Columbia University School of Social Work Panel Presentation
Yesterday afternoon, I had the honor to participate in a panel presentation at the Columbia University School of Social Work. Barry Chaffkin at Fostering Change for Children has been incredibly generous with his support of my mission to give back to the foster care community. He has provided me with a platform to share my story with those who can help improve the lives of children in care.
I shared my story about growing up in the care of strangers and winding up on the street at sixteen. The graduating class of soon-to-be social workers came away with these words of advice: engage, be consistent, and remember to say goodbye.
